On 24th October 2024, I joined a company called Asaascom Engineering as a Web Developer. After completing my probation period, I was offered a full-time position, and I worked there for around 16 months.
Taking Initiative & Fixing Outdated Systems
When I first joined, the company had only a few websites, and most of them were very outdated, mainly built using WordPress. I took the initiative to improve the entire development workflow.
I started developing the websites using clean code practices, and I also created the company’s GitHub organization, setting up proper version control and structured development for each project.
At that time, the company also didn’t have a proper DNS management system. In reality, almost all their websites were running under subdomains of a primary domain. When I noticed this, I stepped in and began fixing it by implementing proper DNS control and organizing the domain structure professionally.
Building Multiple Systems From Scratch
Later, the company assigned me larger responsibilities. They requested that I develop several systems, including:
- An E-learning System
- An Online Examination System
- A News Portal System
- A Talent Pool System
Main Project List — The following three are full web systems I built from scratch (E-learning, Online News, Talent Pool). The rest are Static Website I developed from scratch & maintained during my time there:
- E-learning — www.elearningtec.edu.my (Web System)
- Online News — www.newstec.my (Web System)
- Talent Pool — www.talentpool.my (Web System)
and more...
For these projects, I worked from scratch — handling database design, API integration, and making the entire system functional single-handedly. I put my best effort into the job, spending many nights and weekends researching technologies, learning new tools, and building solutions that matched the company’s needs.
Since I was the only web developer, I was managing multiple projects at the same time, pushing my limits to deliver the best possible results.
To be fair, the company did pay me for my work — and within those 16 months, I delivered all of the above.
Contract Renewal & Relocation Decision
My contract was valid until December 2025. In December, I approached the company owner to ask about the next move:
“Are we continuing? What is your plan, sir?”
I explained clearly that I needed to make important personal decisions, including relocation. I told him that if my contract would be renewed, I would move closer to the office.
At that time, the company owner assured me:
- Yes, we will continue with you
- Your salary will be increased as well
Naturally, I felt happy and appreciated, because I believed my work was being recognized. Based on that promise, I made a major decision to relocate.
In January 2026, I paid a significant amount of money and finalized my relocation to an area near the office.
The Shock: Termination Over LinkedIn Posts
Then something unexpected happened.
On the same day in January when I was expecting contract renewal confirmation, the company owner Suresh Kumar called me for a meeting — not about work, not about performance, not about any project.
Instead, he confronted me about my LinkedIn posts, specifically posts related to Artificial Intelligence and Canva — content that had nothing to do with the company.
He shouted at me aggressively, asking why I posted such things. Honestly, if he had approached me professionally and respectfully, I would have listened and responded properly. But the way he spoke to me was completely unprofessional and unacceptable.
Here are the posts in question — you can read them and judge for yourself:
- Affinity Design Software for Real Designers (Canva & design tools)
- Learn Programming Basics Before Relying on AI
Those posts were general thoughts and professional sharing. I never wrote anything against the company, and I never deleted those posts because I still don’t understand what was “wrong” with them.
After that conversation, I received a termination letter with only one day notice.
The next day, I was supposed to move into my new place — a relocation that I had already paid for and planned entirely based on their confirmation of contract renewal.
My Question: Where Is the Ethics?
I want to ask sincerely:
What kind of ethical workplace does this?
I invested my time, effort, weekends, and nights to build systems and improve the company’s infrastructure. And after giving them everything I could, I was terminated suddenly — right after relocating based on their assurance.
Because of this situation, I had to go through a very critical and difficult time.
Later, I also found out that there was a specific person in the company (in the digital marketing side Name : Firra) who may have been manipulating things and portraying my behavior negatively to the boss.
I always respected everyone in the office. I never disrespected anyone. But this experience was honestly one of the worst I have ever faced in my career.
Final Note
This is completely my personal experience. I’m sharing it here because I needed to release it from inside and speak my truth.
Please be careful when dealing with companies like this.
Before making any big decisions — especially relocation or long-term commitments — think carefully and protect yourself first.
